Dr. Cooper Callaway, DMD, MS, brings over 25 years of orthodontic expertise to Columbus and the surrounding Mississippi communities. He earned his dental degree at the University of Mississippi ('97), then specialized in orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry.

Treatment time varies depending on your individual case, but most patients wear braces for 18-24 months. Invisalign treatment often ranges from 12-18 months for mild to moderate cases.

You may experience some mild discomfort for a few days after getting braces or after adjustments. This is normal and indicates your teeth are moving. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage any discomfort.

Most patients visit us every 4-8 weeks for adjustments and progress monitoring. These appointments typically last 15-30 minutes.
4. Can I still play sports with braces?
Absolutely! We recommend wearing a mouthguard to protect your braces and teeth during contact sports. We can provide you with a special orthodontic mouthguard.
5. What foods should I avoid with braces?
Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods that could damage your braces, such as popcorn, hard candy, gum, and sticky caramel. We'll provide you with a complete list.
